ISU women’s basketball head coach Bill Fennelly picked up career victory No. 350 Saturday as the Cyclones beat Texas A&M 66-58 in College Station, Texas.

The victory was the first conference road win for Iowa State (10-8, 3-4 Big 12) this season.

Iowa State’s offense came to life as the Cyclones shot 54.5 percent from the field, a season high in Big 12 play.

Anne O’Neil led Iowa State in scoring with 20 points on 7-of-8 shooting from the field. Off the bench, Megan Ronhovde added 10 points and 10 rebounds to pick up her first career double-double.

The Cyclones held the Aggies (7-12, 0-8) to 35.7 percent shooting, but Texas A&M outrebounded Iowa State 40-29.

Texas A&M’s Toccara Williams was just shy of a triple-double with 26 points, eight rebounds and nine assists. Tamea Scales added 18 points and 15 rebounds for the Aggies.

O’Neil scored 15 of Iowa State’s 25 first-half points as the Cyclones took a 25-23 lead into the locker room.

Texas A&M tied the game on its first possession of the second half, but the Cyclones answered with a Brittany Wilkins basket that gave them the lead for good.

The Aggies cut the lead to two with less than two minutes to play, but Iowa State’s Lyndsey Medders scored five points in a 30-second stretch to give the Cyclones a 63-56 advantage.

Iowa State returns home Wednesday night to battle the No. 12 Kansas State Wildcats.
