The Inter-Residence Hall Association encouraged members to get the word out about Residence Hall Week and Cy’s All Campus Leadership Summit at its meeting Thursday night.

John Shertzer, IRHA adviser, said Cy’s All Campus Leadership Summit, a campuswide event designed for students to work on leadership skills, will be held this Saturday. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the program will begin at 9 a.m., he said. The cost is $10 for the day which will include lunch and materials, he said.

Students can still register to go to the leadership summit, he said.

“[Cy’s All Campus Leadership Summit] is a good investment of your money and time,” Shertzer said.

Shertzer said there are over 400 people registered to attend, but more residence hall students are needed.

The day will consist of a lunch and keynote speaker, he said.

Plans for Residence Hall Week are well under way and some IRHA members expressed excitement about the event.

“[Residence Hall Week] sounds like a lot of fun,” said Lee Moser, Eaton Hall representative. The special events committee is going to ask for more money from IRHA special funds to “use it for a good cause,” Moser said.

The added money will go to help make Residence Hall Week better quality, said Autumn Hare, director of special events.

Rachel Tenley, IRHA Willow representative and sophomore in accounting, said Residence Hall Week will hold a community service project on Saturday. The people who sign up to do community service will not know what they will be doing until the day of, she said. IRHA is going to incorporate a “Secret Service” theme into Residence Hall Week, she said.

Jackie Armstrong, Linden Hall representative, said Thursday night of Residence Hall Week will be a high roller casino night. Participants are encouraged to wear tuxedos or feather boas.

IRHA is also planning on painting store front windows for Homecoming, Hare said. “It’s a cool way to get IRHA out there,” she said.

Also at the meeting, a bill that will allow IRHA presidents and vice presidents elected in the spring to take over their duties before the last day of the spring semester was approved.

Kyle Perkins, TRA president, proposed a parliament order seating the new president, treasurer and publicity coordinator for Free Friday Flicks Committee.

Reginald Lomax Jr. was seated as president of Free Friday Flicks, Tambra Cotton was seated as treasurer and Kristen Langer was seated as the publicity coordinator.
