No. 5 Cyclones drop second game to No. 12 Illini

Nick Rogers #14, and Adam Alcott #15, on the Cyclone hockey team against Minot State at Friday night’s game. The game was held at the Ames/ISU Ice Arena. The Cyclones won the game against Minot State with a final score of 3-1.

The Cyclones hit the ice for the second matchup in Champaign, Illinois, against the University of Illinois Fighting Illini. The Cyclones were swept by the Illini during the weekend, losing the second game 3-1.

Stephen Quinn tallied the first goal of the game, giving the Illini the first lead of the game.

Senior forward Colton Kramer capitalized on a power play early in the second period to tie things up at 1-1.

Kacper Ryba responded to regain the lead for the Illini. Mike Turek found the back of the net next to push the Illini lead to 3-1. The Illini held onto the 3-1 lead for the remainder of the game, sealing the sweep over the Cyclones.

The Cyclones will be back on the ice next weekend in a home series against the University of Central Oklahoma.
