After going 1-1 on day one of the JoAnne Graf Classic, the Iowa State Cyclones softball team went 0-2 with losses against the Florida State Seminoles and the University of North Carolina Wilmington Seahawks.

The Cyclones went into Saturday afternoon’s matchup with the defending national champion and top-ranked Seminoles, seeking to avenge their 1-0 defeat on Friday night.

Freshman Shannon Mortimer made her first start in her collegiate career on Friday for the Cyclones.

The Seminoles pitching and fielding was on point as the Cyclones had two hits. The Seminoles came out on top against the Cyclones, 5-0.

Thirty minutes after their matchup with the Seminoles, the Cyclones took on the Seahawks.

Senior catcher Kaylee Bosworth kick-started the Cyclones offense in the bottom of the first inning with a two-run home run. Senior Kelsey McFarland scored off the home run.

In the top of the third inning, Janel Gamache hit a three-RBI triple to give the Seahawks a 3-2 victory over the Cyclones.

On Sunday, the Cyclones will conclude the JoAnne Graf Classic with a rematch with the UNC Greensboro Spartans at 10 a.m. The Cyclones beat the Spartans 4-2 on Friday.
