Foundation speaks to Faculty Senate
September 10, 2002
In the first meeting of the Faculty Senate for the 2002-2003 academic year, the ISU Foundation gave a presentation. Tuesday’s meeting was held at the Gateway Center.
Phyllis Lepke, senior vice president and chief operating officer for the ISU Foundation, tried to outline the Foundation’s goals for releasing information under the Iowa Open Records Act.
“We listened, we heard, we recognized we needed changes,” Lepke said.
She said the Foundation’s goal is to be as open as possible while respecting the wishes of private individuals who donate.
The Foundation is making progress and needs to be accountable to its constituents, Lepke said.
She said she would like people to say, “I understand the budget, I can see how many people work there and I can see how much they make.”
The senate brought forward a motion that would endorse the Foundation’s plan. Upon the vote, the motion died.
Nominations were also taken for a business senator, and the search for a senate secretary is still in progress.
