Bomer drafted by the Chicago Cubs

Former ISU baseball player, Alan Bomer, was selected with the second pick in the ninth round of the Major League Baseball Amateur Draft by the Chicago Cubs.

The pitcher was the 258th pick of the draft which concludes after fifty rounds.

Bomer was the No. 1 starter this past year for the Cyclones and finished the year with a 4.06 ERA and a team-high 65 strikeouts.

The sophomore collected second-team all-Big 12 Conference honors while pitching Iowa State to the Big 12 Conference Tournament.
