For a third straight season, the Kansas Jayhawks (4-6, 2-5) will conclude the regular season with a game against Iowa State.

After losing three straight games to Texas Tech, Nebraska and Texas, Kansas will attempt to avoid its first four-game losing streak since 1988.

Twenty Jayhawk seniors will be playing in the final game of their respective careers Saturday, including 10 starters and two special teams players.

Heading the list of seniors is quarterback Dylen Smith, who has started all 10 games for the Jayhawks this season.

Smith is one of the top signal callers in KU history, having compiled the sixth most passing yards, completions, attempts and touchdown passes.

Smith needs just 175 yards Saturday to reach the 2,000 yard plateau for the season.

Senior wide receiver Harrison Hill became the fifth player in KU history to record 100 catches, after grabbing three balls against Texas last week

Hill currently leads all Jayhawk receivers this year with 42 catches for 532 yards.

Junior wide receiver Termaine Fulton’s 11 career touchdown receptions ranks fourth in school history. In two games against Iowa State, Fulton has six receptions, including two for touchdowns.

Junior Roger Ross is second on the team in receptions and is featured in Kansas’ three-receiver sets.

Senior tailback David Winbush’s 2,532 career rushing yards place him sixth in school history.

With 143 yards against Iowa State Saturday, Winbush would pass NFL legend Gale Sayers on the school’s all-time rushing list.

Winbush leads Kansas in rushing with 625 yards on 141 carries, and senior fullback Moran Norris plans to return to action this week after missing the past three games with an ankle sprain.

The Jayhawk offensive line has its strong point in senior right guard Marc Owen, who has not allowed a sack all season and recorded a team-best 29 “pancake blocks.”

Senior left guard John Oddonetto will make his 22nd consecutive and final start Saturday, along with sophomore center Nick Smith, junior right tackle Justin Hartwig and junior left guard Bob Smith.

Senior free safety Carl Nesmith’s 90 tackles leads the Jayhawks, and senior strong safety Kareem High’s 78 tackles is second among the secondary.

Junior cornerback Andrew Davison will make his 25th consecutive start, and junior cornerback Quincy Roe’s three interceptions lead the team in that area.

Senior nosetackle Nate Dwyer has seven sacks, and is joined in Kansas’ 3-4 defensive scheme by junior defensive ends Ervin Holloman and De’Nard Whitfield.

Junior linebacker Marcus Rogers has recorded 88 tackles this season, which places him second on the team.

He is joined by seniors Chaz Murphy and Tim Bowers and junior Algie Atkinson.

Senior kicker Joe Garcia has been successful on 5 of his last 7 field goal tries and will start in his 44th consecutive and last game.

Senior punter Joey Pelfanio will also be appearing in his last game and brings his 38.8 yard-per-punt average to Ames.

Wide receivers Nesmith and Ross will return kicks and punts, respectively.

Head coach Terry Allen is in his third season in Lawrence and has compiled a 16-24 record there.

Overall, he is 93-52 in 12 seasons as a head coach.
