Letter to the editor: Falun Gong is wrong

Zhou Chen

I got a little bit confused after I read “Falun Gong praise” by Mr. Jiang in the Oct. 5 Daily. It gave me a different image of Falun Gong. Back in my home city, one professor jumped from a sixth floor window, an exerciser in my neighborhood described his parents as devils.

Most of us view it as you did the Branch Davidian cult in Waco, Texas. It might be Jiang’s responsibility to clarify the difference between the two kinds of Falun Gong and help the Falun Gong exerciser in China to get the right way of exercising, that will be the kindest thing.

Another thing I disagree with Jiang on is why Falun Gong is banned in China. To my knowledge, Christianity and Buddism are much more popular in China than Falun Gong. I am surprised they are not banned because of their popularity.

I heard many who are not in the government criticize Falun Gong. A member of the Chinese Academy of Science wrote an article about the bad side of exercising Falun Gong and he got several blackmail threats from enthusiastic exercisers.

A lot of people are criticizing the Chinese government for doing nothing to prevent people from dying by refusing any medical help, which is the main feature of Falun Gong.
