Cyclone gymnastics edges out Southern Utah

Iowa State gymnast Sydney Converse competes during the bars competition at the gymnastics meet against Southern Utah University at Hilton Coliseum on Feb. 8. Converse scored a 9.800 during the bars competition. Iowa State won with an all-around score of 195.375, beating out Southern Utah with a score of 195.250. Iowa State had higher scores then Southern Utah in vault, bars, beam and floor.

The no. 23 Iowa State gymnastics team faced off against the Southern Utah Thunderbirds Friday. The Cyclones edged out the Thunderbirds 195.375-195.250. After the win Friday, the Cyclones are now 6-3 on the season.
Uneven Bars:
Iowa State scored a 49.250 on the bar event. The Cyclones went back-to-back with scores of 9.900 from sophomore Laura Burns and senior Meaghan Stevers.

Next Up:
The Cyclones will travel to St. Charles, Missouri, on February 15 at 2 p.m. The Cyclones will face three teams at the Mardi Gras Invitational. The teams include Southeast Missouri, Texas Woman’s University and Lindenwood.
The Cyclones have faced Lindenwood once this year already. The last time the two teams met, Iowa State scraped by with a win, 195.975-194.300.
