Why did this have to happen today?

Innocence and virtue lost

All because an ignorant few

Didn’t care about the cost

Why did it have to be this way?

Matthew fought with all his might

I know he didn’t choose to die

What happened to Matthew’s rights?

What ever happened to land of the free?

Equality for everyone

What they didn’t explain in that fine print

Was that it only applied to some

When will we be free to be ourselves?

“Just be patient” some will say

Great! But how do we explain it though

To those lost upon the way?

To be free to love who we choose

To get those “special” rights

I choose not to sit back and see friends die

I choose to stand and fight.

A candlelight vigil will be held on Thursday night, 9:30, by the campanile.
