The Iowa State women’s soccer team had a tough weekend away from home last week. The Cyclones lost a game on Friday to Kansas, and on Sunday to Missouri.

The team headed to Lawrence on Friday with their backs to the wall. They emerged from the game with a 4-0 loss, which eliminated them from the conference championship.

The game was close in the first half, with the Jayhawks leading 1-0 at halftime. The second half became a barrage of shots on Cyclone goalie Hayley Mercer. Mercer made seven saves, but the Clones were out shot 19-9. Kansas added three more goals in the second half.

The Cyclones made a trip to Columbia, Mo., on Sunday, and found themselves outshot in the early going by a tally of 15-2. The Tigers found the goal on two of their shots, giving Missouri a 2-0 lead.

The second half was not mush better for ISU as they were outshot 10-3, but the Clones did manage to score a goal on a corner kick by Lindsey Rector that Jo Hinks helped into the Tiger net.

The Tigers added a goal of their own to make the final score 3-1.

ISU will finish their season this weekend with games against Texas Tech on Friday and Baylor on Sunday.
