We should reveal our school spirit

Brandon Belisle

Last Saturday while I sat at the Iowa State football game, I started listening to the fans around me and the different ways they were expressing their support for the Cyclones. I came to a conclusion…

Some people are idiots!

This occurred to me when some Mizzou fans about five rows up started to cheer, and I was witness to a pathetic response by some not so bright Cyclone fans.

First of all there were only four of the Missouri fans and they were still making more noise than the top half of the ISU student section. Where is the support for our team?

Of course there were the regular responses from a few morons bearing Cyclone spirit. They were yelling stupid profanities that lacked even more sarcasm and wit than they did originality and taste.

I had to laugh when one of the ISU fans stood up and screamed something dumb at the Missouri guys and the response from one Tiger fan was “Hey, nice hair!”

This promptly left the Cyclone fan silent while he tried no doubt to think of some kind of witty and new way to say #*@# you! He then turned and told all his buddies to wait until the Cyclones scored and he would show the Missouri fan what was up.

At that point one of my friends, who I went to the game with started to mimic the guy and said “Yeah, once we score I am going to go straight up there and get in his face and scream, ‘WooHoo, WooHoo!'”

I was dying laughing, but it is the truth. Where is all the school spirit we should be showing. We need the kind of fans that wouldn’t even waste time mixing words with the opposing team’s fans.

We need people that come together and beat the smack out of those guys!

You can go into any other stadium in college football as an opposing team’s fan, sit in the student section and cheer for your team while insulting the home team fans. But you would not leave alive. So, why do we let it happen here in Cyclone land?

We are having one of the best seasons in three years here at ISU and nobody seems to care. What is the problem?

There are some who are die-hard Cyclone fans. I give credit to those who attempted to take down the goal posts on Saturday, we need more of that type of fire.

It seems to me that it might be a little harder to take the goal posts down than before. I have a solution, but it requires the working together of mass Cyclone fans.

We need all the fans in the student section to paint their butts, some red and some yellow. The fans with red outline the ones in yellow and every time Troy Davis makes it into the end zone the whole section turns and spells out a stadium size TD!

You want to talk about originality, as well as exposure! I guarantee everyone would receive their 15 seconds of fame on ESPN.

My point is the Cyclones need our support, so get drunk or do what ever you have to in order to show your butt to the world. Do it for your school!
