Libertarians making bid for White House0

Running for a party that stands for individual liberty, self-responsibility and freedom from the government, Harry Browne and Jo Jorgensen are the Libertarian candidates making a bid for the White House.

Browne, who is a financial adviser, grew up in Los Angeles and now lives in Tennessee. He is a well-known investment adviser throughout the country and has appeared on the Today show, “Wall Street Week,” the Larry King show and other shows to give investment advice.

He attended college for two weeks, but never finished any higher education.

Browne’s platform includes dramatically downsizing the federal government back to the size it originally was. He supports removing federal control from such areas as education, energy, regulation, crime control and welfare.

He also supports eliminating government interests in social security, the welfare system and health care system.

Browne’s choice for vice president is one of only three female candidates on the ballot. Jo Jorgensen is president and owner of Hypertech, Inc., a software duplication company.

She received an M.B.A from Southern Methodist University and graduated cum laude with a degree in psychology from Baylor University.

She worked for IBM as a marketing assistant for three years and then left to start her own company, Professional Software, Inc., a company that provided computer accounting systems to public accountants.

She was a 1992 candidate for U.S. Congress in South Carolina.

Jorgensen is known on the campaign circuit for her appeal to the young generation of voters and political activists.

“Everyone on my campaign staff for U.S. Congress was GenX,” Jorgensen said in a press release.

Jorgensen lives in South Carolina and in her spare time she plays ice hockey and flies her private plane.
