No suspects identified in Ames bank robbery

No suspects have been identified in Wednesday’s 11:15 a.m. robbery of the Ames Firstar Bank

According to Ames Police, the subject, described as a white male in his late 50s, entered the bank, 2615 Grand Ave., and demanded money from one of the bank tellers. No weapon was observed by bank employees. The subject fled the bank on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.

“Right now we are working on reviewing witness statements and tapping into data banks to check for similar descriptions of what happened up here,” said Shawn Phipps, Ames special investigations officer.

The FBI has been contacted and is assisting Ames police with the investigation.
