General Motors will present a $60,000 gift to Iowa State

General Motors officials will be presenting a $60,000 gift to Iowa State’s College of Engineering today in the President’s Office.

The presentation will begin at 10:45 a.m. The money will be used in part for construction of a high-tech classroom in the proposed Engineering Teaching and Research Complex. A portion of all GM gifts to educational institutions also goes to support programs for women and minorities.

Carl Rausch, director of Asia Pacific — part of General Motors — is an ISU alumnus and GM’s key executive link to ISU.

Several ISU officials will be present to accept the gift including: John Kozak, provost; Murray Blackwelder, interim vice president for external affairs; James Melsa, engineering dean; Joel Snow, director of the Institute for Physical Research and Technology; representatives of minority and women’s programs in engineering and several engineering students.
