Iowa State ends non-conference play with a 86-61 win over Bucknell

On Saturday, Iowa State took down Bucknell 86-61 to close out the Cyclones’ non-conference schedule.

Iowa State had five players with double digit points, but the Cyclones were led by Bridget Carleton. Carleton finished the game with 19 points, eight rebounds and two assists.

The four other Cyclones were Ines Nezerwa with 18, Madi Wise with 12, Alexa Middleton with 11 and Ashley Joens with 10 points.

After the loss to Iowa State, Bucknell falls to 9-3. With the win, Iowa State jumps to 10-2 with their only losses coming from two road losses to South Dakota and no. 16 Iowa.

Iowa State was propelled to victory via a strong first half performance.

At the half, Bucknell trailed Iowa State 45-21.

During the first half, Carleton finished with 11 points, five rebounds and two assists while Wise finished the half with 10 points, six rebounds and two assists.

As a team, Bucknell shot 25 percent from the floor and Iowa State scored 10 points off of 11 Bucknell turnovers.

In contrast, Iowa State shot 51.6 percent from the field and 50 percent from three during the half.

In the second half, Iowa State was only able to outscore Bucknell 41-40.

Iowa State returns to action on Wednesday to open up Big 12 conference play versus Kansas State.
