Iowa State wins multiple weights at the Lindenwood Open

The Cyclone wrestling team had another strong day Saturday, as it took home a few championship wins in the Lindenwood Open.

Highly touted freshman David Carr won in the 157-pound weight class with a 7-3 decision.

Redshirt freshman and No. 14 ranked Austin Gomez according to FloWrestling, continued his dominance with a close 15-13 decision in the championship of the 133-pound weight class. Gomez won an electric bout last weekend on a technical fall.

At 149-pounds, redshirt sophomore Jarrett Degen won his tournament as well with a 7-4 decision. Degen improved to No. 14 this weekend according to FloWrestling.

Redshirt senior standout Willie Miklus finished with another tournament win and continues his undefeated start to his Cyclone career. The 197-pound Miklus was ranked No. 5 at his weight class by FloWrestling.

Redshirt sophomores Alex Mackall and Ian Parker came away with second place finishes in their respective tournaments at 125-pounds and 141-pounds. Redshirt sophomore Gannon Gremmel also finished second in the heavyweight division.

Promising redshirt freshman Marcus Coleman had a disappointing day as he took fifth in his tournament at 174-pounds.

Redshirt sophomore Sam Colbray ended with a third place finish at the 184-pound weight class.

The Cyclones are off until Dec. 1 where they head to Iowa City, Iowa, to take on the Hawkeyes.
