Tennis team continue their strong performances at the ITA regional championship.

It’s day 2 of the ITA regional championship. The tennis team made three of the four singles teams in the Round of 16 and the doubles teams in the round of 16 of the ITA Central Regional Championships. The day got started with the cyclones’ duo of Miska Kadleckova and Sofia Cabezas having a Dominant performance as they beat a Big 12 opponents, kansas’ pair Julia Deming and Mariana Manyoma-Velasquez, 8-0 and moved on. Later that day, you had the other Iowa State duo, Thasaporn Naklo, and Christin Hsieh in the Round of 32 advanced to the Round of 16 after beating Minnesota’s pair Lucy Lu and Anfisa Danilchenko. In singles action, Naklo, the best seed overall, did a quick job of Ana Paula Naranjo Kobash of Tulsa, 6-0, 6-1. They faced Tiffany Lagarde of Kansas. Chie Kezuka had a big day for the cyclones’ getting past the Round of 128 with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Chunxi Xin of central arkansas. Kezuka win over Emma Staker of Oklahoma, claiming victories 6-7(1), 6-1, 6-4. Round of 32 against Kezuka was Sofia Smagina of KU. Kadleckova will advance to the next round due to an injury at the meet and face Marcelina Podlinska of Oklahoma on Saturday.

The Round of 128: Iowa State’s Chie Kezuka defeated Chunxi Xin, 6-1, 6-3

Morgan Cross defeated Iowa State’s Christin Hsieh, 2-6, 7-6, 7-5

The Round of 64: Lily Hutchings defeated Iowa State Sofia Cabezas, 6-2, 7-5

Iowa State’s Thasaporn Naklo defeated Ana Paula Naranjo Kobash, 6-0, 6-1

Miska Kadleckova beat Julia Deming, (due to Injury)

Iowa State’s Kezuka defeated Emma Staker, 6-7 (1), 6-1, 6-4

In the Main Draw Consolations events: Iowa State’s Cabezas def. Olivia Paradise (UST), 6-1, 6-1

The Round of 32 for Doubles Matches: Iowa State’s Naklo/Hsieh defeated Lucy Lu/Anfisa Danilchenko, 8-7 (4)

Kadleckova/Cabezas defeated Julia Deming/Mariana Manyoma-Velasquez, 8-0.

The cyclones’ duo’s and individual players will continue their tennis play on Saturday.
