One day before the Cyclones’ season begins against Alabama State (6 p.m. on Tuesday), Iowa State sophomore guard Lindell Wigginton has received national attention.

Wigginton was named to the Naismith Award Watch List on Monday, one of 50 men’s basketball players named to the preseason list.

Wigginton is coming off of a freshman year in which he averaged 16.7 points per game on 41.4 percent shooting from the floor. He also shot a team-high 40.1 percent from 3-point range.

This summer, Wigginton flirted with entering the NBA Draft before returning for his sophomore season.

Wigginton was one of six Big 12 players named to the list along with Sagaba Konate of West Virginia, Barry Brown and Dean Wade of Kansas State and Quentin Grimes and Dedric Lawson of Kansas.
