Jam-packed between all the Iowa State football, basketball, volleyball, cross country, wrestling and other sports action, Iowa State provided an update on its sports facility plans.

The goal for Iowa State’s athletic department is to receive approval from the Board of Regents on Nov. 15 to start on the project that consists of 110,000-foot performance center, costing $90 million.

“When we initiated this project, our vision was to provide our student-athletes state of the art facilities that would allow all 450 of them to study, train and compete with the best student-athletes in the nation,” said Athletic Director Jamie Pollard in a release. “I could not be more excited and pleased that multiple donors have stepped up to provide the necessary resources to make our vision a reality.”

Pollard said donors have raised over $40 million toward the project that will consist of new weight rooms, lockers, batting cages and sports medicine areas for Olympic sports.

The football facilities will also be renovated and expanded.

The addition is projected to begin June 2019 with an estimated two-year completion period.
