Beautiful Land Market hits downtown Ames
Unique collectors, artists, makers, designers and food trucks come together to showcase and sell their work at the Beautiful Land Market.
Their fourth pop up event of the season is taking place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m Sunday in the Downtown Ames Fareway parking lot.
Jody Bergan Bennett, founder and co-director, described this as a uniquely curated market filled with something for everyone, regardless of age and interests. She started her first market, Lucky Star Market, in 2013 and then took a break from the business. In 2018 she returned per request of Ames residents. She rebranded it as Beautiful Land Market with the help of graphic designer Andrew Kingsbury, who is now her co-director. Kingsbury is also a vendor at the market who makes jewelry and other art pieces.
“Our main goal with these markets is to bring people together and to help small businesses and creative entrepreneurs,” Bennet said.
Friendship Ark Inc., a local nonprofit organization that assists adults with intellectual disabilities, will be hosting their Bootique fundraiser at the event. Guests will be able to donate gently used Halloween costumes as well as purchase them for a free-will donation.
Tyler Miller will be performing a mix of covers and classic songs, as well as his own music. Food truck vendors will include Sandwich Studio, Macubana, Stallie’s Sweets, Café El Zapote and Bean Caffeinated.
“Our pop ups are a place to get inspired, shop local, celebrate community and have fun,” Bennett said.
