Cyclone basketball player Caleb Grill, a senior, is no longer a member of the Iowa State men’s basketball team according to a release from Iowa State Athletics Wednesday.

“We hold our players to high standards and there are expectations that our student-athletes are held accountable for,” Iowa State men’s basketball head coach T.J. Otzelberger stated.

Grill was amid his third season as a Cyclone, playing 25 games and averaging 9.5 points per game.

Grill released a statement on Twitter Wednesday evening, addressing comments he made.

“Unfortunately, I said something that I regret which has cost me the opportunity to finish out my dream at Iowa State. I hope that all the players and Iowa State fans can find it in their hearts to forgive me,” Grill stated.
