For the third straight week, a Cyclone football player has been given a weekly honor by the Big 12.

Redshirt junior outside linebacker Marcel Spears Jr. has been named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week for his performance against Texas Tech. Spears had four tackles, two interceptions and a pick-six in the Cyclones’ 40-31 victory.

This is the third time Spears has received the honor after receiving it twice in the 2017 season. This is also the second-straight year for Spears with a pick-six against the Red Raiders.

The Cyclones suit up next on the road against Kansas at 11 a.m. on Saturday, with the game being broadcast on FSN.
