Redshirt sophomore left guard Josh Mueller has left the team, an Iowa State spokesperson confirmed on Wednesday. The news was first reported by Tommy Birch of the Des Moines Register.

Mueller is the second player to leave the Cyclones this week, with former starting quarterback Zeb Noland  departing on Monday. Both players were redshirt sophomores and had recently lost their starting jobs.

Mueller, a native of Mequon, Wisconsin, started the first two games of the season against Iowa and Oklahoma, but he sat out the game against Akron due to an injury and since then had lost his starting job to redshirt junior Collin Olson. He had also appeared in two games in 2017.

The next listed player at left guard is redshirt senior Oge Udeogu.
