The Iowa State softball team is on the road again over the weekend, competing in the Rawlings Classic in Charlottesville, Virginia.

In their last outing, the Cyclones traveled to Las Vegas to play in the UNLV Desert Classic. Iowa State finished with the best record of all teams and stands at a record of 6-3 so far this season.

The Cyclones competed hard previously and showed the offense is a strength of the team. Multiple players had at least a pair of home runs and RBIs under their belts during the weekend.

The Cyclones’ first matchup of their three-day tournament will be against Delaware. The Fightin’ Blue Hens are 5-4 heading into the tournament and will play Iowa State on Friday morning.

The Cyclones will see the Fightin’ Blue Hens twice during the tournament as they play them again Saturday morning.

Iowa State will play the Lehigh Mountain Hawks at 11:30 a.m. for the final game Friday. The Mountain Hawks enter the tournament at 2-5 this season and are coming off a trio of losses at the Weiler Orthodontics Invitational.

Iowa State will play its second game Saturday against Virginia. The Cavaliers hold a record of 6-4 heading into the tournament after playing against top teams such as No. 10 Alabama and No. 18 South Carolina.

Finishing off the trip, the Cyclones will play against Lehigh again Sunday morning.

Iowa State will start the tournament with first pitch set at 9 a.m. Friday against Delaware.
