The Iowa State men’s basketball team landed its second player in the transfer portal in former Northern Iowa Panther Nate Heise, who announced his commitment via social media Tuesday.
Following the loss of four players to the transfer portal, the Cyclones have quickly gotten to work. Heise joins Charlotte center Dishon Jackson as the newest members of the Cyclone squad for the 2024-25 season.
Heise, a Minnesota native, just finished his fourth season with UNI where he averaged 13.5 points per game in 32 games, all of which he started. The 6-foot-5 guard shot 46.3% from the field and 35.6% from behind the arc.
After sustaining a hand injury two games into his sophomore season, which sidelined him the rest of the year, Heise put up some of his best numbers during his junior season. He saw career highs in minutes per game, points per game, rebounds per game and assists per game.
In his 32 games played with the Panthers last season, Heise had 14 games with 15 or more points, including six games with 20 or more points. The three-star transfer prospect, according to 247Sports, has two years of eligibility remaining as he enters the Iowa State program.
As for Jackson, who announced his commitment on March 25 on X, formerly known as Twitter, he will serve as a solid replacement for the loss of Iowa State’s three veteran forwards.
The California native averaged 11.4 points per game on 54.4% shooting from the field along with 6.1 rebounds per game. The 6-foot-11 sophomore started 30 games for the 49ers and enters with two years left of eligibility.
