Iowa State wrestling kicked off September with a commitment from Bethlehem Catholic wrestler Ryan Anderson.

Anderson announced his decision on Twitter.

Anderson is the No. 3 138-pounder in high school, according to InterMat Wrestling. Meanwhile, Anderson is the No. 1 145-pounder, according to The Open Mat, so Anderson can provide some flexibility with his weight.

A state title last season propelled Anderson up the rankings heading into his senior season of high school.

Overall, Anderson sports a 77-6 record in his high school career.

Anderson’s commitment could be the first of more commitments for Iowa State and other programs this weekend. Sept. 1 is the official date colleges can contact high school juniors.
