On Friday night, Davontrez R. McCuddin of Fort Dodge allegedly stabbed and killed his older sister and nephew, Markasia McCuddin, 26 years old, and her one-year-old son Liam McCuddin in Ames at 3917 Tripp Street. 

Markasia and Liam suffered numerous stab wounds and were declared dead despite medical intervention from officers and medical staff.

“No break in involved in this incident; there was a family relationship. This was his sister,” Ames Police Major Dan Water said. 

Davontrez has been charged with two counts of murder in the first degree, a class A felony punishable by a mandatory life sentence. 

Lisa McCuddin, the mother of Davontrez and Markasia died in 2004 from a gunshot wound in Fort Dodge. Police never identified a suspect. Becky McCuddin, Lisa’s mother, raised Davontrez and his older sister, Markasia.
