Iowa State wrestling boosted its upper-weight portion of the lineup with the addition of Missouri transfer Willie Miklus. IAWrestle was the first to report the news.

While Miklus brings talent to the table, he also provides experience. Miklus gained a sixth year of eligibility due to missing a majority of the 2013-14 season and 2016-17 season to injury.

Last season, Miklus wrestled at 197-pounds. The Altoona native finished last season with a 25-6 record and earned All-American honors. Miklus was also an All-American at Missouri in 2015 and 2016.

The other 197-pounder on Iowa State’s roster is redshirt sophomore Samuel Colbray. Colbray finished with a 15-13 record last season and had an 8-6 record in duals.

During Miklus’ high school career, he competed at Southeast Polk. In May, another Southeast Polk graduate, Ethan Andersen, announced his decision to transfer from Oklahoma State to Iowa State.
