A new early season tournament beckons for the Iowa State women’s basketball team.

The Cyclones announced Tuesday that they would participate in the 25th edition of the Preseason WNIT in the 2018 season.

Head Coach Bill Fennelly said that the Cyclones are “excited to compete.”

“It’s a great tournament, and we are looking forward to being a part of the event that kicks off the college basketball season,” Fennelly said in a press release.

The Preseason WNIT features 16 teams from 16 different conferences, and each team will play at least three games over the course of the event. The championship game of the tournament will be televised on CBS Sports Network.

Notable teams in the tournament field include Auburn and Northern Iowa.

The tournament bracket has yet to be released, but the first round will begin on Nov. 8.
