The Iowa State men’s golf squad took the cake at The Colleton River Collegiate earlier today in Bluffton, South Carolina. The Cyclones pulled out the win against several other Midwest teams.

With a delay in play after round one due to darkness, it forced round two to be pushed back to early this morning. With 880-stroke finish, the Cyclones edged out No. 41 Penn State and No. 50 Michigan State.

Iowa State shot 16 over par, but shot even in round three. Many teams improved in the third round, but with the Cyclones shooting even, their score sealed the tournament victory.

The Cyclones were led by freshman Lachlan Barker from Willunga, Australia. Barker finished with a 218 to take fourth place on the individual leaderboard.

Sophomore Sam Vincent finished with a 219, giving him a seventh-place finish. Not many others in the tournament could shoot under 70, but Vincent shot three strokes under par in the third round. Freshman Frank Lindwall was close behind Vincent, shooting eight over par, leaving him tied for eighth.

The Cyclones head back to South Carolina in two weeks for The Hootie at Bulls Bay starting on Sunday, March 25th.
