Iowa State picked up a commitment from 247 composite 3-star defensive end Blake Peterson on Saturday morning, as first reported by Alex Halsted of 247Sports.

Peterson is a 2019 commit from Beresford, South Dakota. Peterson had visited Iowa State on Friday, and he chose the Cyclones over Minnesota.

Peterson, a 6-foot-4, 220 pound defensive end, is the top-ranked player in the state of South Dakota and is the Cyclones’ sixth 2019 commitment (the first on the defensive side of the ball). In his junior season for Beresford High School, Peterson had 42 tackles (17 of them solo tackles), seven tackles for loss and three sacks in six games played.

Peterson’s commitment pushes Iowa State to 15th in 247Sports’ Composite Team Rankings early on in the recruiting cycle.
