Iowa State (12-11, 3-8 Big 12) fell to No. 7 Texas Tech (20-4, 8-3 Big 12) on Wednesday night, 76-58. The loss keeps the Cyclones in the cellar of the Big 12 standings.

Iowa State kept it close for much of the first half. After 11 minutes of play, the Red Raiders led 21-20.

Freshman guard Lindell Wigginton was the star for the Cyclones early in the game. He paced the team with nine points and three assists in the first half.

The Cyclones trailed, 39-32, after the first 20 minutes.

Senior guard Donovan Jackson, Iowa State’s second leading scorer this season behind Wigginton, was held scoreless in the first half on 0-of-4 shooting.

Iowa State used a 7-0 run early in the second half to draw the score to 45-44, in favor of Texas Tech, at the first media timeout after halftime.

The Red Raiders used a 13-2 run to pull away, however. Thanks to that run, Texas Tech led 70-55 when a timeout was called with 2:32 to play, essentially sealing the win.

Redshirt freshman forward Cameron Lard finished with 22 points and five rebounds. Wigginton tallied 13 points, six rebounds and five assists. Jackson ended with six points on 2-of-11 shooting.

Iowa State’s next opponent will be Trae Young and the Oklahoma Sooners this Saturday.
