Second finalist for vice president of ISU Extension and Outreach announced

Iowa State has named John Lawrence as the interim vice president of extension and outreach.

John Lawrence has been announced as the second finalist for vice president of ISU Extension and Outreach.

John Lawrence got both his bachelor’s degree in animal science and a master’s degree in economics from Iowa State University. From there he went on to get his doctorate in agricultural economics from the University of Missouri.

Lawrence will be holding an open forum on Wednesday Feb. 28 from 3 to 4 p.m. in the Memorial Union’s Pioneer Room.

Lawrence began working at Iowa State in 1991 as an associate professor in economics and extension livestock economist.

From 1998 until 2010, Lawrence was the director of the Iowa Beef Center at Iowa State University.

After 2010, he was involved as the associate dean of Extension and Outreach in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and was director of Agriculture and Natural Resources Extension and Outreach at Iowa State University.

Starting in April of last year, Lawrence has been the interim vice president of Extension and Outreach at Iowa State University.

Lawrence also has won a number of awards including being named one of 25 most influential people in Iowa agriculture over the the previous 25 years by Iowa Farmer Today in 2009 and getting the Dean’s Citation for Extraordinary Contributions to the College of Agriculture in 2004.
