Student Government will review proposed bylaw changes by the finance committee in an effort to “allow for better operation of all things finance related.”

The Senate will also discuss proposed changes to the Priorities and Criteria as recommended by the finance committee to be enacted at the start of fiscal year 2019.

Regarding external legislation, the Senate will debate the following funding requests:

  • $6,970 to the Arab Students Association for its annual Arabic Night,
  • $4,400 to Cardinal Eats to cover its printing cost,
  • $752 to Club Managers Association of America to attend a conference, and
  • $3,000 to the Association of Malaysian Students at ISU for Malaysian Cultural Night.

The Senate will also review a debt contract of $1,120 to UNICEF, the Iowa State chapter of an organization that aims to provide “education and basic rights to children around the world through education, advocacy and fundraising.”

A debt contract is drafted in instances where a student organization is in debt and serves as a way for the group to repay Student Government over the course of several semesters.

Additionally, the senate will discuss the confirmation of a new chief of staff, Rachael Barnes, to serve in the cabinet of President Cody West and Vice President Cody Smith.

The chief of staff position was left vacant after Jacob Zirkelbach, who previously served in the position, resigned to fill the position of election commissioner.
