Iowa State entered Saturday on a two-game losing streak, in desperate need of its first Big 12 win. Coach Steve Prohm’s squad couldn’t pull out the win, falling to Oklahoma State, 96-87 in overtime.

Iowa State (9-5, 0-3 Big 12) fell behind early. The Cowboys (11-4, 1-2 Big 12) took a 30-17 lead late in the first half, but the Cyclones stormed back.

Thanks in large part to senior guard Donovan Jackson, Iowa State went on a 17-0 run to take a 34-30 lead. Jackson led all scorers with 15 first-half points (4-of-5 on 3-pointers).

The Cyclones used that run to take a 34-32 lead into the halftime break.

Iowa State kept fighting in the second half.

Lindell Wigginton, who didn’t score after picking up two fouls in the first half, scored five quick points in the second half to give Iowa State a 51-48 lead.

The final 10 minutes were back-and-forth from both teams.

Oklahoma State took a 77-76 lead with 1:21 left after a 9-0 run. Hans Brase ended the run with a hook shot in the lane with less than a minute to play, giving the Cyclones a one-point lead.

The game eventually went into overtime, tied at 79 apiece.

In overtime, both teams held leads but Oklahoma State took a 91-87 lead in the last minute. Senior forward Hans Brase air-balled a 3-pointer as Iowa State tried to come back, ending the Cyclones’ chances to extend the game.

Jackson finished with a career-high 30 points.
