It’s career fair season again. Here is what you need to know to be prepared and ready to get hired:

When and where:

  • Agriculture and Life Sciences- Jan. 31, 2018, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. @ MU

  • Engineering- Feb. 6, 2018, noon to 6 p.m. @ Hilton Coliseum and Scheman Building

  • Business, Industry and Technology- Feb. 7, 2018, noon to 6 p.m. @ Hilton Coliseum

  • People to People- Feb. 7, 2018, noon to 5 p.m. @ Scheman Building

  • Teacher Education Fair- March 5, 2018, 1 to 4 p.m. @ Alumni Center

Tips:

  • Prepare your resume before the big day and have a professor or the writing and media center look over it to see if it’s ready to be handed out to potential employers.

  • Print out various copies of your resume to hand out to potential employers.

  • Dress professionally. Business casual attire such as slacks, dress shirts, ties, knee length skirts, blouses, and suits are generally what is considered appropriate.

  • Check “Cyhire” to see which employers will be coming to the fair so you can look into them before the fair.

  • Prepare an elevator speech that includes your name, major, year in school, why you are interested in working for them, the type of position you are looking for and when you would be available to start working for the company.

  • Get the recommended seven to nine hours of sleep, because career fairs can be nerve wracking.
