Ashley Joens keeps making headlines.

The Iowa State signee and Iowa City High guard was named to the Naismith Trophy High School midseason watch list today. The 5-foot-9 senior is one of just 25 players on the watch list. The Naismith Girls All-America team will be announced in March.

Joens is averaging a double-double in her final year for the No. 1 team in Class 5-A, scoring 28.8 points per contest and tacking on 11.1 rebounds per contest as well. She’s shooting a ludicrous 69.6 percent from 3-point range on 23 attempts and shooting 63.5 percent overall.

Joens, who is rated as a five-star recruit and the No. 19 overall prospect by ESPN, is the highest-rated member of Iowa State’s 2018 recruiting class.

With the Cyclones struggling at 7-9 and in the middle of a four-game losing streak, Joens’ performances are providing Cyclone fans with a glimpse into the next four years.
