On Wednesday afternoon, sophomore running back David Montgomery earned First-Team All-American from Pro Football Focus.

The honor comes just one season after he earned Honorable Mention Freshman All-American. In his second season for the Cyclones, the Ohio native has rushed for 1,094 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Montgomery recorded 104 forced missed tackles, shattering former Florida State running back Dalvin Cook’s record of 89 in 2016.

Along with Montgomery’s physical running style, he also went the entire season without fumbling the football. In fact, Iowa State was the only team in the country to go the entire season without fumbling the ball.

Montgomery and the Cyclones are currently preparing for the AutoZone Liberty Bowl on Dec. 30, in Memphis, Tennessee.
