Iowa State defeated Maryland Eastern Shore on Wednesday night, 55-49, to improve to 9-2 (0-0 Big 12) with Big 12 play beginning next week.

The Cyclones got off to a strong start, taking a 10-0 advantage within the first three minutes of the game. Donovan Jackson scored five points and Lindell Wigginton had four as the Cyclones hit 4-of-4 field goals to start the night.

Thanks to a 3-pointer by Nick Weiler-Babb on the final possession of the half, Iowa State led 34-17 going into the break.

Weiler-Babb, Jackson and Terrence Lewis each scored seven points in the first half to lead the Cyclones. Maryland Eastern Shore (3-10, 0-0 MEAC) shot just 7-of-32 from the floor (21.9 percent) and made only 1-of-11 shots to end the half.

Solomon Young and Cameron Lard combined for just seven first-half points, but in the first eight minutes of the second half they combined for 11.

Maryland Eastern Shore got the margin back down to single-digits late in the game, but the Cyclones were able to keep the Hawks away to hold on for the win.

Cameron Lard led the team with 15 points, tying his career-high.
