The Iowa State’s women’s basketball team strolled to a 93-50 victory in Sunday’s exhibition game against Wisconsin-La Crosse.

The Cyclones sprung a surprise with their starting lineup, starting senior guard Emily Durr and junior guard Bridget Carleton in the backcourt, juniors Bride Kennedy-Hopoate and Meredith Burkhall in the front court and sophomore Adriana Camber on the wing.

Durr started the game off with a three-pointer within 10 seconds of tip-off. The Cyclones never relinquished their lead. By the time seven minutes had gone by, every active player for the Cyclones had seen the floor.

After one quarter, the Cyclones led 26-12.

The second quarter was more of the same, as the Cyclones used their size advantage to build a 21-11 rebounding margin. Kennedy-Hopoate scored five of her eight first half points in the second.

Iowa State shot 54 percent from the field as a team and led 47-26 at the break.

The Cyclones pulled further away in the third. After a quick run by the Eagles made it 51-31, the Cyclones allowed six points the rest of the quarter.

Kennedy-Hopoate delivered a no-look pass to freshman guard Rae Johnson for a wide-open three with less than two minutes left, epitomizing the day the Cyclones had.

It was 71-37 Iowa State after three, and Bridget Carleton was done for the day, finishing with 17 points in 18 minutes on 7-of-12 shooting to lead the Cyclones. Iowa State hit 90 with one minute left on a layup by redshirt junior Claire Ricketts.

Four Cyclones reached double figures (Kennedy-Hopoate, Camber, Carleton, and freshman center Kristin Scott) and every Iowa State player played for 15 minutes or more.
