Victim identified, suspects remain at-large in West Ames homicide

The Ames man killed early Saturday morning has been identified as Xavier Jordan Shepley, according to an Ames Police press release.

Shepley, 21, was a student at DMACC, according to his Facebook profile. As for suspects, Ames police say they are at-large still and encourage the public to provide any information about the incident or if they’ve seen a Chevrolet Avalanche, according to the press release.

The Ames police are investigating a homicide that took place at 3:37 a.m. on Saturday, according to a press release from Ames police. 

The shooting took place at 1311 Mayfield Drive, apartment 110, an apartment in Fountain View Apartments. The victim, who was a male in his 20s, suffered from a gun shot to the upper torso.

He was transported to Mary Greely Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, the press release said. His name will be announced later after the family is notified.

Witnesses at the apartment complex saw two men with masks enter the apartment in what looked to be a robbery attempt. They heard one shot fired, striking the male victim and leaving in what appears to be a black or blue Chevrolet Avalanche.
