Iowa State will start redshirt senior Kyle Kempt at quarterback for today’s game against Oklahoma. Park will be missing today’s game due to a personal medical leave from the football team.

Kempt came in at the end of the Akron game to play a couple of series, but did not attempt a pass. Kempt transferred from Hutchinson Community College two years ago and also played at Oregon State in 2013 and 2014.

Kempt has had minimal playing time during his college career.

Iowa State quarterback Jacob Park is taking a leave from the football team and his return is unknown, according to a press release sent out by the Iowa State athletics department.

He was inactive for tomorrow’s game against Oklahoma, but now his return is unknown. His leave is due to personal health issues, but still remains a member of the team.

“Jacob is a great young man dealing with some personal medical concerns,” said coach Matt Campbell. “We are committed to helping him cope, supporting him on all levels and helping him prepare to get back on the playing field with his teammates as soon as possible.”

Of course, Campbell couldn’t comment on the specifics of Park’s health concerns, but is determined to help him in any way the team can to make him return sooner rather than later.

Iowa State quarterback Jacob Park will not play in Saturday’s game at No. 3 Oklahoma, per the Des Moines Register. According to the report, Park did not arrive with the team in Norman this afternoon.

Park, who has started all four games this season under center for the Cyclones, has compiled a 9-5 touchdown-to-interception ratio and a 62 percent completion rate.

Park started against Oklahoma in last season’s 34-24 loss. He threw for 160 yards with 55 percent accuracy, along with two touchdowns and no interceptions.

The Cyclones will likely rely on either Zeb Noland or Kyle Kempt to replace Park, neither of whom have completed a pass this season.
