Last week, Iowa State saw its name in the AP Top 25 Poll for the first time since 2005.

That stay could have been short-lived when then-No. 4 TCU (7-1, 4-1 Big 12) came to town this weekend, but the Cyclones (6-2, 4-1 Big 12) held on for a 14-7 win.

Today, Iowa State found itself ranked No. 14 when the weekly poll was released.

It’s Iowa State highest ranking since 2002 when the team was ranked as high as No. 9.

At 4-1 in the Big 12, the Cyclones have the best start to the conference season in school history. Iowa State holds head-to-head tiebreakers over fellow first-place Big 12 teams TCU and Oklahoma, giving Matt Campbell’s squad an advantage in the event of a tie in the standings at the end of the season.
