An Iowa State senior was injured Tuesday afternoon after being hit by a car at Beach Avenue and Lincoln Way.

Sequan Gatlin, senior in journalism, was crossing Beach Avenue on his bike about 3:30 p.m. when he was hit by a car that was turning left, Ames Police Commander Geoff Huff said.

Gatlin was taken to Mary Greeley Medical Center.

Police at the scene suspected Gatlin was seriously injured, according to the police report. Huff said this could mean broken bones or severe cuts, but nothing life threatening.

The driver was cited for failing to yield the right of way.
