ISSO hosts potluck at Brookside Park

International students enjoyed a sunny afternoon at Brookside Park.

International students met at Brookside Park on Saturday for an event organized by the Iowa State University International Students and Scholars Office.

International Students and Scholars from China, India and other countries came to this event and enjoyed the afternoon under the sun with friends, family, music and lots of food. The participants brought traditional dishes from their home country and shared with other participants.

Jie Yang, a postdoc from China, said, “I really enjoy this event. The food is delicious. I can experience diverse culture from this event.”

Ananv, a PhD student from India, said “This is my first time to join this event. I want to meet different people. I work a lot, so I need time to relax myself.”

Bhagyashri Parab, a graduate assistant from ISSO said, “This potluck lunch is good for getting people together, this is like an exchange event, an exchange of culture and food.”

Wyatt Waterbury, one of the organizers of this event, said, “This is my first time to organize this event. The purpose of this event is to offer community engagement with international students. It is great time for cross-cultural exchange. ISSO will offer more summer events later.”
