Iowa State starting quarterback Jacob Park was named to the watch list for the college football Maxwell Award today.

The Maxwell Award, named after Robert “Tiny” Maxwell, is given annually to the best player in college football.

As a sophomore, Park threw for 1,791 yards and 12 touchdowns. He led Iowa State to two wins in the final three games of the season, including a 66-10 record-breaking victory over Texas Tech. Park threw for 371 yards against West Virginia in the final game of the season, which ranks as one of the top 10 passing performances in school history.

Iowa State’s season is set to begin September 2 with a rematch against Northern Iowa.
