Former Iowa State point guard Monte Morris signed a two-way contract with the Denver Nuggets Friday, according to the team.

Morris, who was selected with the No. 51 overall pick in June’s NBA Draft by Denver, will play for both the Nuggets and in the G-League (formerly known as the NBA Developmental League).

Morris showcased his ability as a point guard in the NBA Summer League this month. He led Denver with 4.3 assists per game during six Summer League games, and added 9.5 points per game as well.

The two-way system is a new method NBA teams can use with two players each year. It allows Denver to control Morris for the 2017-18 season. He can play with the Nuggets for as many as 45 days of next season with the rest of his time being spent in the G-League.
