AESHM program ranked top in the country (again)

Iowa State University was listed as one the top fashion schools in the nation once more when Fashion School Career Advice released the 2017 rankings.

“We are very, very pleased to be to be rated so high and considered to be one of the best programs in the country,” said Robert Bosselman, department chair for apparel, events and hospitality management. “We’ve got great students, great faculty, I think that we attract a lot of students from across the country because of the quality of the program. And our faculty continues to push research forward and so that attracts people as well.”

In the fashion design category, Iowa State’s program is ranked No. 9 out of the top 50 nationally, No. 3 in the Midwest and No. 4 among public schools and college according to Fashion School Career Advice.

Fashion School Career Advice also said the program highlights for fashion design include:

  • the opportunity to study in “major market areas” such as New York or Chicago.
  • participation in a variety of international study programs in Europe.
  • the opportunity to help produce Trend Magazine—the completely student-run fashion publication.

Students also have access to the interactive Textiles and Clothing Museum and possible internship opportunities at places such as Anna Sui, Rag & Bone, Fossil Group, Kohl’s, Abercrombie & Fitch, Elie Tahari, Nordstrom, Banana Republic and BCBG.

In the fashion merchandising category, Iowa State’s program is ranked No. 5 out of the top 50 in US, No. 3 in the Midwest, and No. 5 in pubic schools and colleges also according to Fashion School Career Advice.

Fashion School Career Advice said students have the same opportunites as listed in the design category, but in addition students have the opportunity to participate in Iowa State’s annual Fashion Show. The production is one of the largest student-produced fashion shows in the nation.
