With the annual ArtWalk happening Friday and Summerfest happening in Campustown on Saturday, there are plenty of events taking place in Ames this weekend. Read up on them here: 

Friday, June 2nd

Tony Valdez Duo at Snus Hill Winery
6:30 P.M. to 9:30 P.M.
 
After over 50 years of playing music, Tony Valdez brings Latin jazz to Snus Hill with Don Jacques as the Tony Valdez duo. 
 
Gimmik at Ames On The Half Shell
5 P.M. to 8 P.M., $5, 21+ 
The Ames Jaycees will be putting on their 15th annual Ames On the Half Shell concert series at Durham Bandshell Park. All proceeds from the event go to community projects sponsored by the Jaycees and the Ames Park and Recreation  Youth Scholarship Program. 
 
Whey Jennings & The Unwanted 
 
9 P.M., The Alibi Bar, Collins, Iowa. 
 
Hailing from Grand Prairie, Texas, the grandson of singer Waylon Jennings will be playing songs from the likes of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Willie Nelson and his own grandfather with his country band, The Unwanted. 
 
Public Piano Unveiling at Ames ArtWalk 
6:30 P.M. to 7 P.M.
 
During the Ames ArtWalk on Friday night, the Parks and Recreation department, in partnership with the Ames Public Piano Project, will be unveiling a new public piano in Tom Evans Plaza during the ArtWalk. The second piano of the two will be unveiled in Campustown Court during Summerfest on Saturday. 
 
Saturday, June 3rd
 
Time Will Tell at Mother’s Pub
 
The constantly evolving blues rock band will come up from Grinnell for a show tucked away at Mother’s Pub. 
 
Damon Dotson 3-6 at Welch Avenue/CTRL C 6-9
 
After playing at West Towne Pub a few weeks back, Damon Dotson will return to Ames for the annual Campustown Summerfest on Saturday. 
Cubits/DJ Elliot James/Sisko Diq at DG’s Tap House
 
9 P.M., $5
 
Two Ames acts, DJ Elliott James and Sisko Diq, and one not from Ames, but familiar enough after playing Maximum Ames Music Festival, will play a psychedelic shoegaze show/dance party this Saturday night. 
 
Burnin’ Sensations- Story City Scandinavian Days

Sunday, June 4th
 
Hold On at Snus Hill Winery
 
2 P.M. to 5 P.M.
 
A Des Moines based band that covers “the best of rock variety” music, playing songs spanning 5 decades and many genres- something for everyone.
 
 
Parranderos Latin Combo at Roosevelt School Summer Sundays
 
A Latin music group from Des Moines, the Parranderos Latin Combo plays a variety of musical styles, like Salsa and Samba, and is a collaboration between 14 Midwest musicians. PLC is also funded by the Iowa Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts.
